The dark side of energy drinks - trading tomorrow's health for today's temporary stimulation

The dark side of energy drinks - trading tomorrow's health for today's temporary stimulation

by Tony Isaacs
(The Best Years in Life) Energy drinks were first introduced over 20 years ago. Though their use grew slowly for the first several years, today they have become a modern day phenomenon with tens of millions now being consumed daily. Energy drinks are the number one growth market for beverages and annual sales are forecast to top $9 billion for 2011. Around one-third of teenagers and young adults report drinking one or more energy drink daily, and in many instances consumers drink several energy drinks each day.

What’s not to like about having more energy and alertness - particularly if it comes from beverages which often tout herbal and other “natural” ingredients as the secret to their success? As it turns out, there is a very great deal not to like – and many of the millions of energy drink consumers may one day find that the temporary boost they are getting today comes at the expense of health problems tomorrow.

Raw Pineapple and Goji Berry Tart

Pineapples are so perfect for the holidays. They’re delicious, festive and also a digestive powerhouse. The discomfort we at times experience during holiday food gatherings is largely due to the unusual quantities and combinations of food our systems are struggling to digest. That’s why pineapples (and pineapple-based desserts) are so wonderful! They’re loaded with bromelain, a powerful digestive enzymes, which combined with amylase and lipase help break down starch and fats. HUGE ANNOUNCEMENT: New oleander-based intensive skin ointment

New Oleander-Based Intensive Skin Care Ointment Debuts
We have long known that oleander can be very effective against skin cancers when taken orally as well as when applied topically - especially in concentrated form.  In fact, in my book and on my website we give instructions for making your own concentrated oleander-based skin cream.
Just this past week, our good friend and group member Dr. Marc Swanepoel debuted his new concentrated oleander-based skin ointment.  It is all natural and each small 50 ml container has as much oleander as a whole bottle of 60 capsules.  One of the first people to test it had a melanoma on his nose.  In just 4 days it had faded from black to light brown and in ten days it was clear.  No pain, no crater and no scar.

A Rational Theory of Cancer

A Rational Theory of Cancer

by Dr. Marc Swanepoel

The orthodox theory of cancer is that it results from the mutations in the genes of normal cells which, in turn, are caused by various factors including environmental carcinogens. The problem with this theory is that there is lots of research showing that gene mutation is neither necessary nor sufficient to bring about cancer. However, Nobel Prize winner Otto Warburg already showed as early as 1924 that in cancer cells the production of Adenosine Triphosphate (ATP) better known as cellular energy is disrupted. He incorrectly concluded that it was due to a STRUCTURAL defect in cellular mitochondria, the main source of ATP production. It took another 60 years before it was shown that cancer was due to a FUNCTIONAL defect in the mitochondria. This change in the function of the mitochondria is most likely due to the depletion of the main antioxidant in the body – glutathione – as a result of lifestyle situations and toxins.

Caponata

If you’re looking for a new taste twist for broccoli and other cancer-fighting vegetables, this relish – or caponata, in Italian – makes a delectable side dish. It’s served as an antipasto, in place of a green salad in winter and as a condiment along with chicken or fish. Mushrooms make a good substitute for the eggplant, too. It keeps for 5 days tightly covered in the refrigerator.
