We may think these products are better than soap and water because their advertisers say so, but fifteen seconds of hand washing with regular soap and water eliminates 80 percent of bacteria, an amount equivalent to what is eliminated with the use of antibacterial soap or hand sanitizer, according to the Harvard Letter.
