Are Food Additives Behind Your Weight Gain and Nagging Health Problems?

Are Food Additives Behind Your Weight Gain and Nagging Health Problems?
by Barbara Minton

(The Best Years in LifeDo you have nagging health problems that never seem to go away? People who eat right, spend a fortune on supplements and get plenty of exercise still answer this question with a YES. The cause of depression, anxiety and low energy for many of them lies in the neurotoxins hidden in even the most healthy sounding foods, including many foods labeled as organic. These ingredients can cause other serious reactions too, including migraines, insomnia, asthma, aggression, chronic fatigue, tinnitus, obesity, restless leg syndrome and ALS.

Many items in every kind of grocery store contain neurotoxic additives that produce such reactions. While 1 out of every 4 people is sensitive to neurotoxic additives, only 1 in 250 is aware that these additives are the source of the reactions they are having.  Read More.

by Loretta Lanphier, NP, CN, HHP, CH

(The Best Years in Life) The sinuses are cavities within the bone structure of the face that are normally filled with air and play an integral role in your nasal system. When operating normally, the sinuses employ tiny hairs called cilia and naturally occurring mucous to keep the nasal passages clear and operating efficiently so they can cleanse and filter the air we breathe. Sinusitis (meaning “inflammation of the sinuses”) occurs when the sinuses become irritated, swollen, or infected, and this can occur due to various causes.  Read More.

Ayurvedic Walnut Brainburgers (Veggieburgers)

Ayurvedic Walnut Brainburgers (Veggieburgers)

According to Ayurveda, nuts of all kinds in moderation, nut milks and nut butters, and sunflower and pumpkin seeds are excellent for pacifying Vata. Blanched and peeled almonds in moderation, and coconuts, are good for Pitta, as are sunflower and pumpkin seeds. Nuts increase Kapha, but sunflower and pumpkin seeds in moderation are acceptable in a Kapha diet. One walnut a day is good for growing children, as it is considered to have "medhya" qualities — nourishing for the brain. Walnuts are considered natural stress-busters. Walnuts are astringent and are fine in moderation for people trying to balance Kapha.

Amazing Fact: Pomegranate Can Serve As A Backup Ovary

Amazing Fact: Pomegranate Can Serve As A Backup Ovary

(The Best Years in LifeObserving a cross-section of the pomegranate and the human ovary, side-by-side, you can see the remarkable resemblance. The ancient 'law of signatures' that Nature weaves into herself, and which is recognized by many systems of traditional medicine around the world, makes it so that sometimes a plant (food) will be of unique benefit to the very organ in the body that it resembles. The walnut, for instance, has a skull-like protective casing, enclosing the bi-hemispheric meat of its seed, which strikingly resembles the very human brain that it is known to nourish with omega-3 fatty acids and other neuroprotective compounds.  Read More

Mainstream vaccination support: another chapter in an old story

Mainstream vaccination support: another chapter in an old story
Written and compiled by Tony Isaacs

Despite a mounting and impressive body of evidence of the dangers and harm associated with vaccinations coming from both within and outside the mainstream medical community, much of mainstream medicine and the agencies that serve it continue to maintain that vaccinations are not only safe, but that we face grave dangers if we don't vaccinate ourselves, our children and our elderly - and do so often.

The continued denials and the push for more vaccinations, including going as far as requiring mandatory vaccinations of young school girls based on disputable evidence, is nothing new.  Sadly, it is just another in a series of less than praiseworthy chapters that have marked how mainstream medicine has allowed advertising and hype to mislead and failed to serve those entrusted to its care. Whether it be a physically or psychologically addictive drug, a drug we have been psychologically coerced into taking, or one we have even been legally compelled to take, mainstream medicine has followed the money at the expense of our health.  Read More.

Precious the Cat and Colloidal Silver

Precious the Cat and Colloidal Silver
By Luella May

It is amazing how we can wake up on a given morning and take for granted that it will be just another day. Little do we know that part of our life is about to change. It might not be an overwhelming change, although sometimes just a small inconvenient change can turn out to be a thorn in one's side.

It all started about three weeks ago when I went on my routine weekly visit to a rest home. As I was in the midst of my bible study, the nurses rolled in a very unhappy Miss Linda. The nurses had forced her to take a bath and come out of her room. Miss Linda had fallen out of her bed within the week and hurt her back. Although I have heard of an ensuing depression after an elderly person breaks a hip, I have not heard of this happening from just hurting one's back. However, Miss Linda has lost her will to do anything, including eat. This presented a problem with regard to her pet, Precious the cat. She had also stopped feeding and caring for Precious. The nurses all seemed to have great disdain for this cat. Nobody would volunteer to feed or change the litter box until Linda recovered.  Read More.

Natural Ways to Prevent, Soothe and Heal Cracked Heels and Feet

Natural Ways to Prevent, Soothe and Heal Cracked Heels and Feet
by Tony Isaacs

(The Best Years in Life) Cracked heels and other foot cracks are usually caused by a combination of pressure and dry, non-pliable skin. Standing and walking applies pressure which makes the skin on the bottom of the feet expand sideways. If the skin is not sufficiently pliable, cracking can result. Known medically as heel fissures, cracked heels are linear cut wounds which usually affect the surface level, or epidermis, of the heel. When the cracks extend beyond the epidermis, they can result in pain, bleeding and even infection. Fortunately, there are several natural remedies for treating and preventing cracked heels.Read More.

How Intermittent Fasting Can Improve Health and Lower Weight
by Sárka-Jonae Miller

(The Best Years in Life) Every diet that actually works has one thing at its core: calorie reduction. Whether eating certain foods increases fat burning or scheduling your meals at different times actually improves digestion is widely debated, but the fact that eating less causes weight loss is indisputable. And what provides greater calorie reduction than fasting? Many religions include periods of fasting, saying it is good for the soul. Avoiding Toxins and Removing Them from Your Body

Avoiding Toxins and Removing Them from Your Body

by Luella May

(The Best Years in Life) Today’s society is filled with a myriad of modern conveniences. A simple visit to a department store or supermarket fills our every need. It is a no-fuss world with everything packaged neatly, ready for use. Even the foods we eat are prepackaged, necessitating only insertion in a microwave and, voila! we have a ready made meal. Unbeknownst to many, however, these wonderful modern conveniences come with a price: they often contain toxic ingredients which can seriously compromise our health.

In today’s world, it is almost impossible not to come into contact with toxins. We normally associate toxins with industrial chemicals, pesticides and the like. Yet, toxins can be found in the everyday products that we depend upon. For example, food, personal care products, clothing, furniture, and cookware are just some of the items used daily that contain toxins. A visit to the doctor or dentist can be another source of toxicity. Just a few examples of how toxins enter our bodies at a physician’s office are vaccines, prescription medicines, and amalgam fillings. A report compiled by the CDC in 2009 stated that there are at least 212 toxins lodged in human tissues and circulating throughout our systems, many of which are carcinogens.  Read More.
