Sweet Potato Falafel

Sweet Potato Falafel
Sweet potatoes, or yams, are among the world's very healthiest foods - and they taste delicious too. Their health and weight management benefits far exceed the nutritional value found in ordinary white and yellow fleshed potatoes. They are great sources of vitamin A and also contain vitamin B6, vitamin C, calcium, iron, magnesium and potassium. They are also a great source of dietary fiber.

As their rich orange color indicates, they are high in carotenoids like beta carotene and other carotenoids. Another benefit of sweet potatoes is that they are naturally sweet and their natural sugars are slowly released into the bloodstream, helping to ensure a balanced and regular source of energy, without the blood sugar spikes linked to fatigue and weight gain.

Many people are not aware of how versatile sweet potatoes are when it comes to preparing them in dishes. Besides baking them, they can be roasted, puréed, steamed, or grilled. Here is a different twist for using sweet potatoes which also contains several other healthy ingredients. Enjoy!

Antibacterial Products Destroy Your Immune System

Antibacterial Products Destroy Your Immune System

(The Best Years in Life) As far back as 2007, the prestigious Harvard Health Letter reported that regular soap and water is just as effective at cleansing hands of bacteria as antibacterial soap or hand sanitizer, and without their dangerous side effects. Apparently nobody was listening though, because this season has seen bottles of hand sanitizer and ads for antibacterial soap pop up everywhere. We may think these products are better than soap and water because their advertisers say so, but fifteen seconds of hand washing with regular soap and water eliminates 80 percent of bacteria, an amount equivalent to what is eliminated with the use of antibacterial soap or hand sanitizer, according to the Harvard Letter. The difference is that regular soap and water is not toxic and does not destroy your immune system.  Read More.

Man Made Cancer

As we are destroying the earth we are destroying our bodies. According to Sara Novak’s article “Is Cancer Manmade? New study shows cancer was a rarity in Ancient Civilizations” and ancient Egyptology studies, cancer was rare. Only one incident of cancer was found out of 100’s of mummies studied by scientists.

Pollution was unheard of 1600 years ago. Among the many dinosaur bones, ancient civilizations, pottery, and mummies found in archeology there were no cars, no cleaning bottles, no remains of factories discovered. Continue reading....

Anecdotal Evidence: Oleander Soup Effective Against Cancer

Anecdotal Evidence: Oleander Soup Effective Against Cancer

by Tony Isaacs

(Health Secrets) This is the third article in the series on oleander, and it  describes how Doctor H. Z. Ozel discovered an age old remedy for cancer and other conditions in rural Turkey in the early 1960′s.   After successfully treating thousands of patients during a 40 year time span, he patented the medicine and it was entered into FDA trials. Unfortunately, after passing phase I trials, the patented oleander medicine, known as Anvirzel, has languished for lack of funding.  It may be many years, if ever, before this promising cancer fighter reaches the market as an FDA approved medicine. The good news is that you do not have to wait for the approved medication, because you can make your own oleander extract at home on your stovetop, based on the original patent by Doctor Ozel and the folk remedy that has been used for thousands of years.  Read More.

Gardasil: How a Carefully Hyped Vaccine is Hurting Families

Gardasil: How a Carefully Hyped Vaccine is Hurting Families
by Lloyd W. Phillips

(Sanevax.org) In 1989, the three year old oil tanker EXXON VALDEZ ran aground off Alaska, and spilled 11,000,000 gallons of oil that damaged Alaska’s coast. This massive oil spill killed or maimed much of the wildlife it came in contact with.

Today, with the help of hundreds of millions of advertising dollars, GARDASIL and CERVARIX HPV vaccines have resulted in the spilling of dangerous and unproven contents into the veins of millions of unsuspecting children, whose parents were duped into thinking that injecting pieces of four Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STDs) into their child’s arm would prevent cancer and warts. Like the EXXON VALDEZ, Gardasil requires a lot of clean-up.

The man behind this is Lawyer Kenneth C. Frazier, Chairman, President, and Chief Executive Officer of Merck & Co., who is also Independent Director at Exxon Mobil Corp., the same company that covered up bad publicity for EXXON’s Alaskan oil spill. Lawyer Kenneth C. Frazier was also on frontline damage control for VIOXX, another defective drug from MERCK. To get the link to the complete story and other related articles, Click Here.

Pollutants in the umbilical cord

I receive EWG's newsletter in my email.  A few month's ago I came across this article.  Body burden: The pollution in newborns  It is scary to know that there are 180 chemicals in a newborn's umbilical cord that cause cancer. Some baby's might not even get the chance to live a healthy life. That is why I feel it is important to keep chemicals out of the home.  I've already have had my four children.  I wish I would of known this information before I had children.  I mean, who would of known that cleaning supplies and products we use every day can damage our us and our children like this.  I think we are brainwashed by commercials.  I haven't seen a cleaning product commercial in awhile.  However, I believe the first thing most people think when they use cleaning products is that they are killing germs to create a healthier home.  What is not being taken account of is the deadly toxins in the product that people are inhaling while they clean, and how if affects the health.  It only makes sense to consider the toxins.

Magnesium Deficiency & Yeast Overgrowth

1 in 4 Women on Antidepressant Drugs for Stress, Depression, Anxiety
by Loretta Lanphier, NP, CN, HHP, CH

(The Best Years in Life) More than one-in-five adult Americans took at least one pharmaceutical drug commonly used to treat a psychiatric or behavioral disorder in 2010 according to “America’s State of Mind,” a Medco Health Solutions, Inc. analysis of trends in mental health medication usage among approximately 2.5 million insured Americans, comparing utilization of antidepressants, antipsychotics, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) drugs and anti-anxiety treatments from 2001 to 2010. Even more concerning about this situation is that for American women, the numbers rose to one in four.  While I’m not totally surprised at these numbers considering all the advertising that pharmaceutical companies are allowed to do, it does cause me to stop and think about better solutions to this health crisis.  Read More.

Eating More Sugar Than You Think

Eating More Sugar Than You Think

(The Best Years in LifeThe word is out on sugar, and smart consumers trying to avoid it have started reading food labels. But manufacturers have smartened up too, and learned that calling sugar by another name fools people into thinking there is less sugar in their products. They know that label readers have caught on to the fact that ingredients have to be listed in order, from the largest amount contained down to the smallest. By using different names for sugar, manufacturers can split the content among the different names, putting the idea of sugar further down on the label without actually reducing the amount of sugar in the product.  But the truth is that sugar by any other name is still sugar.  Read More.
